Top 5 Reasons Why Vintage Toys Are Better……

We live in a world these days where there are all manner of toys, games and gadgets imaginable for kids to while away their time with. There’s such a huge difference in the toys I see kids playing with in comparison to the toys I had as a child. It’s funny to see kids abandon all their latest and modern toys when some old toys come out. Why is that? My answer: Because simply vintage toys are better and here is why: Let’s face it straight up the toys we used to play with were made to last. Toys today…

{Style Collective} Colour for Krista…..

There’s an amazingly beautiful and colourful babe in vintage blogging land many of us know. Krista has been and is still going through difficult times at the moment, but she remains steadfast in being one of the most colourful people online I know. In a recent post she said that she’s needing colour more now then ever before amidst worries and sadness. I couldn’t agree more, I find colour so important in my life and even more so since losing Elle and Meg nearly six years ago. Dark colours make me feel dark, down, depressed and worrisome, whereas colour gives…

2014 Week 18: My Wednesday Style Collective……

Finally we’ve had a proper start to term two of the school year after last weeks short week. On Sunday night it started raining and thundering, and come Monday morning it was clear we were going to have our first school drop off in the pouring rain. I wasn’t bothered by the rain I was excited as it was finally cooler to dress more winter like, which I relished the chance to do so.  So got ready, we did and off to school we went. If you’ve ever had to do school runs and the dropping and picking up of…

When Mum Comes on a Thrifting Trip…..

Earlier this week I posted about an op shopping adventure with my mum and what I wore. Our little morning of adventure out with my mum turned out to do be quite a successful jaunt. Mum scoffed and laughed over the finds that I found exciting. I think she thinks because she’s seen it, used it or had it once lifetime ago she just doesn’t see the fuss now. Take this Forda Drinko’matic Pourer Mixer for example, I was giggling at the coolness and novelty of it all. She commented on the box being tattered, whilst I was pointing out…

2014 Week 16: My Wednesday Style Collective….

Yesterday I had Lady Luck with me, my mum joined us for some op shopping and chit chat, and she must have bought good fortune with her because I picked up some awesome scores. Busy lives and commitments make it difficult to see my mum on a regular basis and with Cohen now in school opportunities are drastically reduced. But that’s what school holidays are for right? Making plans, catching up and connecting.Mum had wanted to do some op shopping so I surprised her with doing the rounds and showing her a few places she didn’t know existed, as well…

What Your Kids Will Learn from Being a Collector…..

Were you a collector of things as a kid? Perhaps you have a child who is a collector? I think I might! Either way you answer, many of us did collect something as a child or now have a child who does. I personally went through many phases as a child collecting different things from pretty stationary papers, stickers, collector cards, stamps, candles and elephant figurines. I even op shopped as a young child and as a teen and picked up clothing scores. No one called a garment back then vintage, it was just described as being old and something…

Retro Cool Glasses for a Dinner Party…..

Do you know what is always exciting to an op shop lover and vintage hunter? It’s finding out about an op shop tucked away that you never knew existed. Last weekend we ventured out on a bit of a pre-lunch adventure and it turned up trumps straight away. There was no possible conceivable way these retro amber glasses were going home with anyone but me, so I grabbed the attention of volunteer pronto and got these babies wrapped up safely. I know it’s a long way off but we are hosting Christmas dinner here this year with Ben’s family, and…

2014 Week 14: My Wednesday Style Collective….

I wasn’t running at one hundred percent the other day I was moody and broody, headachy and just feeling rather generally irritated. I never like the feeling of a mood that I can’t shake holding me down for long, so a quick an easy solution for me is to get dressed in an old favourite. This all time favourite maxi skirt of mine has had several outings on the blog over the years, because it just makes so damn happy and lifts my mood anytime I’m down or not feeling myself. Every single year when the cooler weather starts to strike…

2014 Week 13: My Wednesday Style Collective…..

Two weeks ago when my blog went missing in cyberspace I was amid a post pregnancy wardrobe clear out. Fraser just turned seven months last week and with a change of seasons it has been as good a time as any to be getting it done. With each pregnancy my body has changed a little and although for the main part I fit back into a fair amount of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe, there are pieces in my collection that need to find new homes because they just aren’t the right fit for me anymore for whatever reason or they just…

2014 Week 12: My Wednesday Style Collective…..

Last Wednesday I didn’t post a style collective post, if you weren’t aware my blog went missing from cyberspace. I had attempted to log on and post and my blog had quiet literally vanished, no trace of it, poof, gone!!!!! I have no shame in saying that tears and panic ensued, until later in the morning I started to hear reports that some bloggers with Blogger hosted blogs were experiencing the same thing. Thankfully after a tense morning my blog returned to cyber consciousness and a Google issue was sighted.Despite the aforementioned I have being pressing on with my post…
