All about Second Chances for The Common Good

All about Second Chances for The Common Good

I’m a great believer in second chances, and late last year some unexpected developments in my personal life, presented the opportunity to help others for the common good. Before I tell you more I need to introduce you to Shannon, we’ve been the best of friends since grade one. That’s 33 years of crazy tales that we share, and after that many years of friendship we’re like family. As I’m sure many can attest, when something rocks those that are near and dear to you, it rocks you too! That is exactly what happened in August last year with the…

How to Celebrate Children’s Book Week at Home

How to Celebrate Children’s Book Week at Home

This years 2016 Children’s Book Council Awards have been announced and book week celebrations will run from the 20th of August until the 26th of August. If you have school aged children I’m sure you haven’t missed the news that book week is on its way, as there has been constant questioning and chatter about book week costumes in our house. Despite frequent questioning from the kids I have everything under control to fulfill their costume requests this year. I spent an hour this morning putting the finishing touches to the kids costumes and Cohen and Sarah seem thrilled with…

Baby Whoa What a Week & Introducing…..

Our sweet baby boy Fraser John arrived last Tuesday 20th August. This sweet boy surprised us with making his imminent presence known two days earlier then the c-section date that was booked for him for last Thursday. So it’s feeling rather serendipitous that he being our last babe that he still chose his own birthday; his own special star to fly in on. And yes Vix he sure is a Leo just like his mumma, I’m excited to see in the years to come how we will flourish. If he is anything like me, he’ll be every bit of a…

2013 Week 30: My Wednesday Style Collective…..

The end of this pregnancy must be dragging on for all of you popping in each week? I’m still very much in the thick of juggling outfits and trying to keep my style. My choice of wearable vintage items has been dramatically reduced now that I am so huge. So several garments are getting a couple of wears during the week and I’m just trying to play with combinations for fun.I’ve also, very ridiculously been struck with the need to exercise my own fashion revolt. I was reading a blog post recently where the general consensus was tights/leggings (whatever you…

That Time I Caused a Fight at the Op Shop…..

Goodness me, if ever my op shopping was to cause an argument I expected it would have been with the Ben. But this morning I popped into one of my favourite op shops I regularly frequent to drop off some children’s books and small toys we are culling here at home. Whilst I was there I took a look around the shop to see if anything struck my fancy. While taking a look around the shop, I spotted some bits and pieces poking out from a basket on the sorting table behind the counter and inquired if those pieces were…

Another Vintage Tooled Leather Bag added to the Collection…..

My thrifting trips have been somewhat scaled back in the last month, with illness, Easter and other commitments. But you can’t keep this vintage loving mumma down long, because I get an itch and I just need a fix. Earlier this week I had plans with some local blogger and at the last minute they fell through. The kids and I were all hyped and ready for our plans and an outing, so I had to do a quick rethink, and of course a bit of op shopping was in order. I called my mum, told her I was picking…

Vintage Serendipity Books by Stephen Cosgrove…

I recently popped into a favourite op shop of mine which I like to visit part of my Friday morning routine, once I drop Cohen off at family day care.  Sarah will often fall asleep after dropping Cohen off and since she rarely transfers well from car to pram or to the house to continue her nap, I take a good old drive to this sweet op shop. Sarah will often wake when we arrive at which time I give her morning tea and she is happy whilst I have a look around the shop and have a chat. I…

Flea Market Finds and some kitschy fun….

I have been in Brisbane for a end of year blogger meet up today, thanks to Hello Blogger Events. All the Vowers in this family headed out today and joined me on the trip to Brisbane. Little V came with me to the meet up and Master V and the Big V went off looking for some fun and mischief. Anyway I thought I better finally show you this little number I scored a few weeks ago I have been waiting for an occasion to share with you all, as well as linking up for Flea Market Finds this week.…

Thrifty & Vintage Finds…..

Another busy weekend had and nearly over. We caught up with friends Friday night, which resulted in a late one for the kids and then we backed it up again with another late one last night for a friends farewell. In our infinite wisdom, we decided to hit a local car boot sale for a walk around early this morning.  There were lots of older sellers out today selling quite a bit of vintage stuff, but slightly on the expensive side. There wasn’t much at all in the way of vintage clothing, so there were no scores in that department…
