The Incredible Story of THINGS & Why I Blog…

I can tell you the exact moment I became a writer. It was 1990 and I was standing in front of 150 other hopefuls, when I’d just been announced the winner of the Best Book Award from all of the grade seven students at my school. In that moment something happened and I knew, no matter what happened in life, I would always be able to write and have something to share. So as the story goes, life did happen. I did things. Saw things. Experienced things. Good things, bad things and I suffered heartbreaking things. The Thing On the…

The Doing, Creating & News of Late I Want to Share with You…..

I’ve been blogging for six years this year and whether you’ve connected with me here or way back in the early days on my original blog, you would know by now that I’m a dreamer, always with a plan in my heart to live my joyfully through my passions and interests. There has been a lot of good happening around these parts with me taking things offline for the last two months. I’ve enjoyed getting my passions aligned with my dreams away from the online buzz and to be in a position to come back and share what has been…

‘Tis the season to take some time……

It tends to be a time of year where many people get busy and overwhelmed with Christmas and all the preparations, which sometimes can be a tad more tricky to juggle if you’ve got young children home twenty-four seven. However in the last few years I have found it a time of the year to “take some time”.  The school year has ended and Cohen is home for six weeks, Sarah has finished up kindy and is home for six weeks as well, she’ll be school kid in the new year and a wee little preppie. Just shy of two…

Your best Christmas memories?

My favourite memories of Christmas when I think about it, are really about how mum and dad made the effort for it to be about us kids, even though we didn’t have much and we often struggled. There was that one year I was obsessed with making paper chains. I was unstoppable and the longer I made a paper chain the longer the next one would be. Mum would lovingly tape them up all through the house, the ceilings were are canopy of paper chains and they hung and dangled down curtain rods and weighed the Christmas tree down, they…

Year 12 Formal Flashback, a Look Back 20 Years On….

In August of this year I headed off to my 20 year high school reunion and had an amazing time catching up with old school friends. Tomorrow sees year twelve students in Queensland finishing up their schooling with their final day, with thousands of them chomping at the bit to celebrate with schoolie plans and events. It’s quite crazy to look back twenty years and think wow that was us (my friends and I) fashions were different, times were different and schoolie celebrations (if you ever hear the news reports these days) were a LOT, LOT different. Pre-digital days, these…

High School Reunion Style…..

A few weeks ago I mentioned over on my Facebook page that I was heading to my twenty year high school reunion and I posed the question about whether or not others have attended their reunion or intended on attending theirs in the future. The mix of responses when speaking to people online and offline were interesting, with just as many saying that they would love to go to theirs, as those who weren’t interested in attending theirs at all. High school is a tricky awkward time for all of us, I think this realisation only really comes full circle…

Memorial Post: A 7 Year Life Cycle….

The one post of the year that is my honor to my twin girls Elle and Meg and an insight to my journey to being an angel mumma along with the impact it has had and continues to have on my life every single day. So much has happened in seven years, in fact it’s seven years ago to this very day that two sweet angels went to another worldly realm, and the birth of new life arrived to. The birth of a new life I speak of, is the birth of a new me and a new everyday, a…

Juggling, Autism and Celebrating Our Differences……

I always set out to try and conquer and succeed at all my crazy ideas and thoughts. I’m a hopeless creative with a million ideas and dreams floating around. Ben hears many a crazy ideas and thoughts pass my lips about what I think I’m going to do, but sometimes I feel for you all reading this that you do too. I know this year through various blog posts I have mentioned new things I have wanted to bring to the blog and if you’ve noticed some of them haven’t happened.  There’s good reason for it, but it doesn’t mean…

Our Mother’s Day….

On the weekends we have a tradition with the kids and they have a camp out in our bedroom on a Friday and Saturday night. We’re a very close and connected family and it’s something we love to do, our little loves are only little for such a short period of time……why not indulge their desires as well as ours. This morning I was woken by Cohen and Sarah quietly trying to tip toe out of our room to their daddy who had been up since the early hours and was tinkering on early morning projects in the garage. I…

Everyone seems to have an opinion….

“I don’t like how you dress.” Don’t click away, I’m not saying that to you. In fact I wouldn’t want anything but for you to be who you are, own and love it. Others don’t need to get it, just you, just your soul. Late last week when I was on afternoon school pick up to collect Cohen, I was embracing my normal style loud and proud, when another school mum’s very first words out of her mouth to me when she saw me were: “I don’t like how you dress.” I kid you not they were her first words…
