Connect with your Children on Tell a Fairy Tale Day….

It’s the last day of the school and working week, which means it’s Friday Night Movie Night for us with the kids. I’ve recently shared how this is a significant weekly family tradition for us, as it’s a time to slow down and reconnect after a busy week. Friday nights we don’t just stop at family movies as way of connecting; as an extension of a our family time each Friday sees kids have a camp out/sleep over in our bedroom. It’s beautiful tradition we have which allows for us to enjoy an evening settling in for the together as…

Find Your School Mum Tribe…..

With the school year about to start next week, I have noticed that there is talk and worry in various online groups and social media circles with mums of children starting school for the first time. Their worries aren’t just extended to their children having a successful start to school, but they are also concerned about themselves, and navigating what some perceive as the “school yard mummy scene”. It possibly doesn’t help when there is on line and social media sharing and publishing of styling tips for “school mums” with suggestions that you want to look like you made an…

{Kids} Style: Batgirl She Can Style Her Own World…..

There are no surprises that I love children’s thrifted and vintage fashion, is there? No surprise I love my kids too right? Then there’s probably no further surprise that I like to encourage my kids to explore their own fashion and style. I’ve written before about encouraging children’s individual style and how it’s my firm belief that the leaders of tomorrow will come from today’s children that dance to the beat of their own drum in all facets of life. Sarah much like Cohen has her unique style choices emerging and it’s interesting that some of her choices align with…

Top 5 Reasons Why Vintage Toys Are Better……

We live in a world these days where there are all manner of toys, games and gadgets imaginable for kids to while away their time with. There’s such a huge difference in the toys I see kids playing with in comparison to the toys I had as a child. It’s funny to see kids abandon all their latest and modern toys when some old toys come out. Why is that? My answer: Because simply vintage toys are better and here is why: Let’s face it straight up the toys we used to play with were made to last. Toys today…

Mums the word on Mother’s Day…..

Mother’s Day was on Sunday, and I needed to take yesterday as a go slow day to get back on top and organised again. I’ve been taking quite a few go slow days (okay maybe weeks) recently as Cohen, Sarah and Fraser are all going through developmental spurts and changes. I guess that’s going to happen with them being close in age five and three years old and nearly nine months old.  They’ve all been needing a lot more of me in recent times, which means I have had to slow down and pair back some of my commitments here…

Happy Birthday Boy, five today woohoo……

There is one great big excuse to slow down and enjoy this week. My big little boy is five today. That’s right the big five, the serious business of being of growing up but being sweet cuddly young kid. It’s a wonderful age to watch my preppie grow and bloom right now. He still needs us for so much but is pushing so hard for independence and freedom. Today he will be able read some of his own birthday cards and messages and when everything is done and dusted he’ll even be able to draw and write thank you notes.…

What Your Kids Will Learn from Being a Collector…..

Were you a collector of things as a kid? Perhaps you have a child who is a collector? I think I might! Either way you answer, many of us did collect something as a child or now have a child who does. I personally went through many phases as a child collecting different things from pretty stationary papers, stickers, collector cards, stamps, candles and elephant figurines. I even op shopped as a young child and as a teen and picked up clothing scores. No one called a garment back then vintage, it was just described as being old and something…

Taking on Weekend Market Selling with a Baby…..

This past week and weekend has been full on, what with life with three kids, Sarah being sick, doctors appointments and preparations for our first market since Fraser’s arrival. My poor girl has spent most of the week, battling seriously high temperatures with no known cause for the best part of last week. It’s a mystery to us and to the doctor as to what has been wrong with her. Come Friday she was in better spirits and Saturday morning she seemed to be much more her normal self. So we chanced it and decided that Cohen would have special…

Tips for Thrifting with Children…..

Recently conversation bounced around over on our Facebook page about op shopping with children, after a comment I made that I braved my first outing with three kids. It would seem for many of us we have no choice but to have the kids in tow with us whilst we op shop. Whilst many commented that if they could avoid taking the kids along they would certainly seize the opportunity. I remembered a post I wrote sometime ago about thrifting with under four years olds. So I thought, hey lets look at that and see if it still applies and what…

Moments of The Week and Weekend with a Newborn…..

I’m still navigating the new normal here and seeing what works for us. In all honesty last week didn’t even give me a chance at seeing what the new normal would be. What with the Ben returning back to work last Monday, and with Cohen and myself coming down sick. He with an ear infection which saw him cry and scream for the entire first day I was flying solo with the three kids. Then there’s me coming down with a throat infection and two days of body aches, chills and what not. As a result it’s all about the…
