Toowoomba Swap Meet 2016 Finds and Fun…..

Two weekends ago we were out and about on our first big weekend road trip of the year to one of Queensland’s biggest annual swap meets. Because it’s been quite some time since I’ve shared a round up of vintage finds, I thought I would share some unearthed treasures that made there way back here, after getting many people checking in with me social media asking how the Toowoomba Swap Meet was. I’m always excited to head out Toowoomba each year for the annual swap meet which is one of the biggest held in Queensland taking up the entire expanse,…

Round Up: Jupiters Casino Rotary Antiques Fair 2016…….

I love starting each year off with the first thing on my “vintage events calendar” by attending the Jupiters Casino Rotary Antique Fair. This years fair was its 29th year, and it truly is the best antique and collectibles fair to grace the Gold Coast each year it’s an outstanding event with quality pieces to wow. Here is a round up of last years fair. There are stallholders who travel from interstate to be in attendance and selling at this fair and you are sure to see quality high end pieces right down to quality affordable collectibles.  I headed along…

Lifeline Bookfest Gold Coast Convention Centre 2015…..

You may remember in the past I’ve shown you some glimpses into the Lifeline Bookfest when I’ve got along. I’m in no short supply of vintage children’s books but that’s no excuse to keep me away from having a look. The Gold Coast Lifeline Bookfest has been on since this Friday on the Gold Coast and finishes today, at the Gold Coast Convention in Broadbeach. With the event starting on Friday and ending on a Sunday afternoon, if you ever get along on a Friday morning you’ll spot all the secondhand book dealers, sometimes donning white cotton gloves searching for…

Let’s Do The Time Warp Again…….

Some could say that my style and wardrobe is a time warp, and a good thing that it is because last Saturday I attended a local Rocky Horror Picture Show Singalong event for charity. If you’ve ever attend a singalong event you will know that dressing in theme is a given it literally has to be done. Of course I was not one to shy away from chance to get into costume (or some of my regular wardrobe however you look at it) and have a child free night out. I invited my dear friend Noelle to come with me,…

Antique and Collectible Book Store on the Gold Coast, a must visit….

Before Ben and I started our family we could waste away hours in a day browsing in book shops and being drawn in by all different topics and texts. Some days we’d walk out with nothing after hours of browsing and sometimes we’d walk out bags heavy with several books each.  Our interests have always been very different from one another and for the main part worlds apart. Although Ben has grown more accustomed to my thrifty, op shopping, vintage loving ways, there’s one place on the Gold Coast we could both waste hours away in when it comes to…

Gold Coast 2015: Rotary Antiques, Collectibles and Book Fair at Jupiters Casino……

January always marks one of my most favorite times on the Gold Coast antiques and collectibles scene with the Rotary Antiques, Collectibles and Book Fair held at Jupiters Casino in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast. If you’re a serious collector of antiques and quality collectibles it really is the one and only must attend event on the Gold Coast “vintage” calender. You will see everything from fine jewelry to current day collectible Erstwilder pieces. There are the likes of rare books, war memorabilia, collectible toys, pedigree dolls, loads of incredible fine collectible china, ceramics and glass. You’ll see beautiful art…

Greazefest 2014 – Cars, Pin Ups, Dancing, Vintage and Fun…..

We had a wonderful day out yesterday at the GreazeFest Kustom Kulture Festival in Brisbane at the Rocklea Showgrounds. The festival is a three day event filled with cool cars, rockabilly music, fashion and pinups, vintage bikes, pin stripers, tattoos, markets and so much more, including fun for the kids. From the moment we walked through the gates, the kids were excited and were calling to us to look at the cool cars, all the colour and girls. We walked through the market stalls and vintage sellers sites. Ben looked for old style bowling shirts and Cohen couldn’t help but…

That time I went to vintage fair on three hours sleep……

Yesterday a dear friend and I headed to the Cold Coast Fashion Fair. I nearly pulled the pin on going because Sunday morning had me running on three hours broken sleep. Let’s just say 16-17 year old school leavers thinking they can party in the street and terrorise my family and house, because they have some sense of entitlement, resulted in a lot of worry, stress, police being called and hence lack of sleep. But vintage waits for no one one, even if you’re dead tired. So we scooted on to the Gold Coast Arts Centre for the Brisbane’s Vintage…

Vintage Styling Event with Kittys Vintage Kitsch……

My goodness you should have been with us on Saturday for the vintage styling event with Kittys Vintage Kitsch. The start time was 11am and I arrived bright and early at 9.30am to assist with getting ourselves all organised. I am utterly thrilled with the atmosphere of the day and so pleased my introduction for Celia went off pretty much without a hitch. It was a small intimate group, nibbling on cucumber sandwiches, strawberries, yummy cheeses and other delights with a little sparkly punch. It felt like a bunch of old friends getting together, but in this instance it was…
