2014 Week 13: My Wednesday Style Collective…..

Two weeks ago when my blog went missing in cyberspace I was amid a post pregnancy wardrobe clear out. Fraser just turned seven months last week and with a change of seasons it has been as good a time as any to be getting it done. With each pregnancy my body has changed a little and although for the main part I fit back into a fair amount of my pre-pregnancy wardrobe, there are pieces in my collection that need to find new homes because they just aren’t the right fit for me anymore for whatever reason or they just…

Am I Breeding a Collector, Hoarder or a Squirrel…..

It would seem as though at the tender age of three, Sarah is well and truly becoming a little Vintage Miss. She already has a love for vintage dresses and accessories, and has developed an eye for vintage things. I have found her standing at her wardrobe on her little step-stool flicking through her dresses saying: “That’s vintage, that’s vintage and that ones vintage.” Bless her heart it’s so funny and she’s mostly correct in her identification of what is vintage hanging in her wardrobe. Recently I left her in the lounge room to watch television whilst I got dressed for…

Retro Starburst Clock Shining in the Dining Room…..

Who would of thought that after so much time longing, waiting and hoping for a perfect Starburst clock it would come my way, and that it would be just before we said goodbye to 2013. Well it’s all patience and faith that it happened, I think. Just before Christmas the very dear and most fabulous Celia from Kittys Vintage Kitsch was in my end of the world. Celia stopped by our place for a little catch up and cheekily announced that she had two Starburst clocks in her van, and as we were on the top of her wait list for…

A Weekend of Baby Preparations…..

Our weekend just gone has been one of pottering and preparations, with about five weeks to go before belly bubs makes his appearance I figured it was time to start getting some things organised. That along with an overload of people with a few having a sixth sense talent telling me I’m going to go early, I thought it might be worth listening to the messages being sent my way. Oh and as well as that I probably should mention to overall significant challenge I am having in moving around at the moment, best I do what I can otherwise…

Perfect Vintage Finds for a Picnic…..

You know I’ve always got some lovely finds tucked away to show you all.I’m utterly smitten over this wool blanket in a rainbow of colours I picked up a few weeks ago. It’s colours are just perfect for our living area. What I call a beautiful compliment to our decorating efforts, a yellowy/mustard feature wall in our lounge room.  The re-paint of the house has slowly started to take shape. This weekend the Ben has started to attack our bedroom and lounge room. Remember I told you all I didn’t want this happening when I was heavily pregnant? Oh well…

Vintage Children’s Wall Growth Chart ……

I’m smitten with a forever piece that has made it’s way into our home. This retro children’s fabric growth chart, is just perfection. It’s the perfect little something for our home and something we hope to have through our kids childhoods and hopefully through to any grandchildren, heck even great grandchildren if I get ambitious and hopeful about it. The wall this currently hangs on will end up being a continuation of a coloured feature wall (as we get through painting our house) that leads into our kitchen dining area. So it will be gorgeous slate grey which I think…

When Modern Retro Meets True Retro in the Bedroom…..

You all know I op shop, car boot and all around treasure hunt, a lot. You all know I love my vintage and retro finds and even when it comes to modern day items, I tend to try and thrift it first before looking for it retail. One of the things that has been on my list to purchase has been a doona cover (others might call it quilt cover). The tricky thing is I’ve been looking for a king sized one. I don’t know about you, and where you op shop but king size sets are near on impossible to…

Corned Silverside is a bit retro isn’t it?

Considering that my body is starting to tell me to slow down a bit and I had recent requests for tips via comments, emails and messages about cooking a Silverside in the slow cooker after my kitchen addition of my Snapshots Into Me post, I thought I’d deliver the goods for you in a post. So I hope this helps those who were asking.I don’t know about others but I kind of think silverside is a little bit of a retro meal that has stood the test of time for some families. I know for one we had a fair bit of…

Sweet Vintage Baby Christening Cards for Boys and Girls…..

As many of you know I have my little children’s vintage business and I search high and low in all sorts of places, directions and locations on and off line to acquire stock. I figure just because I acquire something for stock, it shouldn’t always miss out on being shared here on the blog. It’s a lovely treat to share these large vintage baby christening cards. I love the imagery on these cards, I’m so fond of vintage and retro children’s prints and imagery there is so much sweetness and innocence in them, something that is often lost these days.…

What I like about op shopping at Christmas time…..

One of the things I love most about op shopping around Christmas time is people clear out their old Christmas decorations. I love picking up old decorations that are more reflective of another time. You might of seen my post boasting some of my favourite decorations they were picked up last year on a last minute op shop trip for the year. As it is we popped out briefly yesterday for a op shop, and I couldn’t pass up a bag of mixed Christmas decorations which had several wooden ones in there. I nabbed the bag for fifty cents and…
