A Journey with Style and Soul….

A Journey with Style and Soul….

You know that feeling of a new pair of shoes that are perfect? They’re kind of exciting aren’t they? With those shoes you feel as though they could take you anywhere. With those shoes you stride with comfort and confidence, as time goes on they are natural and an easy choice each day. But one day, further down the track you notice some wear in your shoes and you start to think about that wear and the fit of those shoes and what you will do about them. You ask yourself does the wear in those shoes need to be…

Roundup of the Everything Deco to Retro Fair…..

Now that I have had a week after doing my latest fair, to find my feet and some organisation again I thought I’d share some pictures of my set up at the fair and a few feelings and insights of doing my first indoor and multi day fair. Many of you will know that I have been a lot quieter on the blog in the last month. Ben, Cohen, Sarah and myself suffered a sever bout of bronchitis during the school holidays. Frustratingly our sickness and recovery ran right into preparations for the Everything Deco to Retro Fair. So with…

Tips for Selling Vintage Children’s Clothing….

I actually can not pinpoint the time when my interest developed in collecting and then selling vintage baby and children’s clothing. I’ve lived appreciating old things my whole life, but the love of old vintage items for babies and children has been with me some time. Long, long before we were even considering having children I had wardrobe rails full of vintage baby and children’s items. Back in the day (pre-kids) I sold off items to friends, family and collectors for longer then I have been here in this online social community. When I started out in the early days…

Eight lessons learnt in the first year of having an Etsy Store and inspiration for you to chase your dreams…..

This time last year I was in hospital snuggling with a fresh bundle of joy with our wee man Fraser. Phone calls congratulating us along with text messages and emails were coming in too thick and fast. Among the messages we received on that day was also a notification I had made my first Etsy sale. It seemed at the time to be magical sign that I had given birth to our last little vintage baby and on the same day my Etsy store gave birth to it’s first sale. I look back now and think about all the effort that went…

We’re in print “Mother and Baby Magazine”…..

Today is an incredibly exciting day, because I can finally tell you all why I have been so busy behind the scenes. Two months ago I was contacted by a stylist for Australia’s Mother and Baby magazine after they discovered us on Etsy asking if I’d send some of my vintage nautical themed items for babies and children to Sydney for a photo shoot for an upcoming issue. When an opportunity like that arises you grab it with both hands and you pull out all stops, so a wonderful bundle of vintage goodies was sent. As a result I have been very busy adding…

Lessons from Sharing a Home Office & Questions to Ask Yourself….

I don’t know about other couples, but in the evenings when Ben and I are working on our own projects, we like to be in close vicinity to one another so we can talk. With three kids we don’t get much chance to have uninterrupted conversations, so in the evenings we like to try and make the most of it when the kids are in bed. But try as we might over the last few years to share work spaces, it just hasn’t worked out. Ben’s projects have grown and not to mention my stock levels and its become difficult…

I’m excited that today I have Christina Lowry back from her feature last week. Mum in Business Christina Lowry Designs…..

Christina from Christina Lowry Designs and I have gotten to know each other over time and share many things in common. We both have little men in our lives called Cohen that are the same age, as well as having some similar interests, passions and stories. One thing however we don’t share in common is a talent for making and designing jewelry, that is a talent I do not possess but Christina does in bucket loads and she runs a successful business from home whilst managing her brood Cohen and Emerson all whilst expecting a new addition to the family…

With the above being said, I am utterly thrilled to be bringing you Kat from Team Kitten. Kat is an old high school friend of mine and she is a mum of two gorgeous kids and oozes artistic and creative talent…

Road trips and Swap Meet with Baby…..

We’ve just had a huge weekend with a big chunk of it away on a road trip gallivanting around sourcing some fresh goodies for my business. Cohen and Sarah had time with their grandparents and Fraser, myself and Ben hit the road. Fraser continues to be an absolute dream to treasure hunt with, he traveled well in the car over the weekend and when we were on foot he spent the entire time being worn in a carrier by me. Many a comment was made over the weekend that I was starting his treasure hunting habits early. Well I guess…
